Membership
Renewals
The BKIA is pleased to report that we now have 60 members so thanks to all for
recommending membership and a warm welcome to all renewed members and to those
joining for the first time. This is intentionally a short newsletter this time,
there should be more news to send out quite soon; please let the Administrator
know if there is any information you would like to include in these newsletters.
MSA Kart
Committee Meeting
At the last meeting approval was given to the revised bodywork regulations
submitted with a great amount of members input. These revisions essentially take
account of current good practice and permit the use of CIK homologated parts on
non-CIK chassis with minimal change. Once these have gone through Motor Sports
Council we will be able to publish them subject to final ratification. An early
implementation date has been requested.
Tyre Testing
Appeal
By now everyone will probably have read of the Motor Sport Council decision to
reinstate Adam Christodoulou as Super One national champion in Junior Max and
Mini Max. If you have a view on the tests, procedures or other
constructive matters with regard to making improvements please let the
Administrator know.
CIK Chassis
Homologations
With the next homologations due for next year the MSA has asked for any
manufacturer intending to homologate chassis and/or bodywork to let them know.
The Administrator is happy to collate and forward details if preferred. Please
also note that as before the Administrator will be able to produce homologation
applications and forms on behalf of manufacturers at the discounted BKIA rate.
As soon as the homologation schedule is announced members will be advised.
CIK Regulations
The easiest way of getting sight and copy of the latest version is to log onto
www.cikfia.com and follow the options
through to Technical Regulations.
Shows
2005
Please remember that this years London Kart Show is over three days (9, 10, 11,
December 2005). The show will open on Friday at 12 am and exhibitors will be
able to build their stands either all day Thursday or Friday morning so their
costs for accommodation etc will not be affected. Stands are fast running out
and the organisers have reminded us that BKIA members are eligible for 10%
discount on normal rates. If you would like more information or want to book a
stand please call Philip Bunn on 01444 246446. PRI Show, Orlando (USA) There is
a possibility that the PRI Show will be encouraging Karting to the 2005 Show.
The BKIA is meeting with MIA at the end of June to see whether UK Government
(DTI) funding can be made available to assist members and will report in the
next newsletter.
