Seasons Greetings We wish all members and their customers a very pleasant Christmas and a prosperous 2006. Membership Renewals Renewals for 2006 are now due and should be returned to the Administrator by post as soon as convenient. We are pleased to confirm that the membership fees for 2006 remain unchanged. Download the membership form. A small number of major importers and teams are not yet members and it would be great if we could attract them into membership this coming year. Please do all you can. You will probably note on the form questions relating to the type of business and annual turnover. It will be most helpful for these to be completed so that a fuller picture can be drawn of the overall UK kart business that could reinforce our case for development funding and other support. I am not asking for audited turnover but just a round number. Please also ensure that your address and point of contact details are up to date as these go on to our web site. Thanks for your help in this. BKIA Logo We are raising the profile of the BKIA and in looking through karting media we don’t see many members including the BKIA logo in adverts. Please use the logo; we do have high-resolution images available and will be happy to send the file and/or mail additional stickers to you if needed. Celebrating 50 years of Karting Next year as you are probably aware is the 50th anniversary since Art Ingels first kart appeared. To mark this occasion we commissioned Jim Bamber to create a logo. This has been used at the London Kart Show already and attracted comments. All members have had this by email so please feel free to include in any of your literature with the phrase ‘BKIA – Celebrating 50 years of Karting’. If you need a copy on disc please let the Administrator know. Here is the logo:
While on the subject of the London Kart Show it was good to meet so any members and hear your views on the current shows and suggestions for the future. Here are some images from the Show, courtesy of www.kartpix.net
Come Kart Racing DVD All members have been sent a copy of the new “Come Kart Racing” promotional DVD that has been produced by the ABkC with BKIA and ARKS support. We hope that members and clubs will show this to customers and local groups, perhaps accompanied by a presentation to help promote our sport. It is suggested that copies might be given to local schools for their libraries or given to prospective newcomers. Please order further quantities to support this initiative. They can be ordered either direct from the ABkC in boxes of 100 at £100 per box or I will collate orders for smaller quantities. An order form is available.
